WiMAX Forum® Certified Training Series

Alongside WiMAX MEGNA

WiMAX Forum RF Network Engineer Certification Boot Camp
3-6 March, Dubai (£1,795)

A comprehensive skills-based course for RF-network planners. This four-day course is designed for engineers who have some RF background, to develop their RF engineering skills, specifically for WiMAX network design. The boot camp covers all of the necessary topics to prepare a technical student to take the WiMAX Forum RF Network Engineer™ certification exam. Engineers who are planning a WiMAX deployment will acquire the skills to design the network, balancing the requirements of service quality (including throughput and performance) with minimum capital and operations cost. The emphasis is on the design of the RF access network, including base station engineering and siting, and propagation analysis to serve fixed and mobile subscriber stations.

WiMAX Explained
12-13 March, Dubai (£1095)

This two day course introduces both technical and non technical aspects of WiMAX to enable the delegate to fully understand how this important new technology fits into the future of wireless communications. The need for WiMAX enabled services are analysed, followed by examples of current and future WiMAX applications, including broadband wireless access (BWA), backhaul networks, and mobile systems. The use of WiMAX in both licensed and un-licensed bands is explored, together with the major differences in deployment for the differing WiMax scenarios, as well as the role of IEEE and other standardisation initiatives. The basic elements and principles of WiMAX operation (including the protocol stack) are covered, including adaptive modulation, MAC convergence layers, and Support for QoS and PMP/Mesh architectures. Radio and Capacity planning issues are presented, along with methods of reducing interference and improving performance. WiMAX security is considered in respect of Security Associations, Key Management Protocols and Encryption techniques.
